Beale Airmen Against Drunk Driving

The Wing's policy on drinking and driving is based on the "0-0-1-3" program which stands for 0 underage drinking incidents, 0 DUIs, 1 drink per hour and  never more than 3 drinks a night. A worthy policy and easy to remember but what happens when it gets lost in the translation?  Usually, trouble.

That is where BAADD can help. Beale Airmen Against Drunk Driving is a force of volunteer airmen and civilians dedicated to saving the lives of other airmen who have made a bad choice by drinking too much but are smart enough not to drive.  BAADD volunteers will pick up an intoxicated person and take them home.  Intended to be a last line of defense for Beale members, the BAADD volunteers use their own vehicles and gas to ensure that that these people are not behind the wheel of an automobile.  The volunteers do not accept money but serve so that others may survive.

The program operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, though Friday and Saturday nights are busiest. Anyone interested in becoming involved in BAADD can email Thomas.Normandy@beale.af.mil or they can access the Beale homepage from a military computer and find out more about this important program under the Hot Topics link.

If a Beale Team member finds him or herself too impaired to drive they should know that they have a wingman in BAADD!  The number to call for help is 530-634-5555.
