Beale Spotlight: The Community Center
The Community Center is indeed the center of the Beale community. The inviting, spacious facility is home to a wide range of activities. The CAC, as it is commonly referred to, offers class for all ages, a variety of low tech as well as high tech gaming equipment, Playtime socials for the little ones, special events, meeting rooms, a ballroom, computer lab and it is one of the many locations on Beale to provide wireless internet service.
Family events take place at the CAC monthly, their Community Block Parties give everyone a chance to get together and have a great time. Kids will have a blast and work off some energy in the inflatable bounce house, themed activities are varied to go with the theme of each party, food and prizes round out the evening.
Quarterly indoor flea markets are scheduled for the first Saturday in February, May, August and November. The chance to de-clutter will benefit sellers and shoppers alike. Sellers can pass their unneeded treasures to someone new and earn extra money. Tables rent for $5.00 each. The flea market is free to shoppers.
Classes are offered for adults and children at the CAC. Students can learn a new skill and connect with their creative side. Conversational Japanese is available, a very valuable skill when PCS orders to Japan arrive! Take a dance class, play the piano or saxophone or rock out on a guitar.
TJ's Coffee and Deli is located in the CAC. TJ's provides morning and afternoon dining with assorted coffees and delicious sandwiches.
Special events such as Tops in Blues, the Beale Talent Show and Comedy Shows, to name a few, are hosted by the Community Center throughout the year. The staff is experienced in putting together spectacular events for the people of Beale.
The CAC is a modern facility and available to everyone who is eligible to use Force Support Facilities. There are private meeting rooms and a large ballroom with a sound system for larger gatherings. A big-screen TV is available in a lobby area for DVD or TV viewing. Game equipment is located throughout the CAC; pool table, foosball, air hockey and X-Box consoles connected to large screens. A computer room with internet access, a printer as well as a jukebox and drink and snack machines provide visitors all the comforts of home.
