Recycling Information for Beale Residents

Recycling is more important than ever, there is a pressing need to preserve our environment, save natural resources and reduce the amount of garbage going to landfills. Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons of waste!  All California communities are required to recycle a significant percentage of their solid waste or face fines for non-compliance.

Yuba-Sutter Disposal provides curbside recycling, garbage and yard waste pick up for Beale AFB. Each household is issued 3 different carts for particular types of waste, green cart for composting, gray cart for non-recyclable waste and blue cart for recyclables.

Hazardous waste is in almost all homes and is not permitted in any of the carts. Waste products that are caustic, corrosive, dangerous, explosive, flammable or toxic are hazardous.  Nail polish and remover, cleaning products, batteries of any kind, medicines, calculators, telephones, computers, paint and furniture polish are some of the common household products that are hazardous and therefore can not be disposed of in carts.  You can visit www.ysdi.com for a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable waste.  Hazardous waste can be disposed of at the household hazardous waste facility, 134 Burns Drive - Yuba City, Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Recyclables should be place in the blue cart loosely, not in bags.  Customers can still redeem their cans and bottles for cash at any certified recycling center.   If a household regularly has more recyclable material than their blue cart can hold, they may call to receive a larger blue cart.  Someday maybe all blue carts will be larger than their grey counterparts!
